Attorney General Horatio Eden announces

plan for Ministry of Justice expansion

By Horatio Eden, political editor and justice correspondent Attorney General and Second Deputy Speaker candidate Horatio Eden announced plans this week to expand the power of the Ministry of Justice. The previous plan issued by the Ministry of Justice in the form of a bill to the Reichsversammlung was shot down amid fears that the planned establishment of a Central Investigation Department would be an unnecessary overexpansion of the federal bureaucracy. Under new MoJ plans, the responsibilities of the planned CID will be held by the Ministry directly. Attorney General Eden also confirmed that the Ministry would be investigating the December federal election, specifically with regards to the electoral fraud phenomenon of Decembergate (external link) and potential violations of campaign law by candidates in the run-up to election day. The specifics of the bill that the Ministry intends to submit to the Reichsversammlung have not yet been published. Also on the docket are bills to expand observer access to the Reichsversammlung, establish a Hansard record of Reichversammlung proceedings, record the votes of members of the Reichsversammlung, and others. The next session of the RVL will take place on the 31st of December, 2017, at 18:00 - 19:00 UTC.
